Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta said to Somalian President Mohamed Abdullahi his support will continue in rebuilding the war-torn country.
Uhuru was in Somalia on the occasion of inauguration of Mohamed, who won the February 8 elections with good number of votes.
Uhuru said, “The Somali people have spoken and they have great expectations of the new government in rebuilding and developing the nation.”
He added both the countries have enormous challenge ahead and need to collaborate in restoring regional stability as crosss-border crimes are common for the two countries.
Uhuru continued that bodies like International community, AU and IGAD would provide necessary support to Somalia.
The president further mentioned all the regional bodies will provide good support in rebuilding Somalia and Kenya too will remain steadfast towards its contribution.
He also said they need to work with other AMISOM troops too for the development and reconstruction of Somalia.
Mohhamed Abdullahi Farmajo was earlier the prime minister of Somalia. he dual citizen – US and Somalia. On February 8 he defeated incumbent President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.
People rejoiced following the Kenyatta speech. They came out on streets, singing and dancing.
