Dar es Salaam. Police have arrested Singida East Member of Parliament Mr Tundu Lissu shortly after the Director of Public Prosecution dropped seditious charges against him.
Mr Lissu was taken to central police station shortly after his arrest. However, the reason behind Mr Lissu’s arrest wasn’t known immediately.
Lissu was accused of uttering seditious statement in January 11 at Kibunju Maungoni B District in Zanzibar Island during the Dimani Contituency by-election campaign.
Earlier, State Attorney Paul Kadushi had earlier informed the court that the DPP has no intention of continue with the charges against Mr Lissu as per section 91(1) of the Criminal Procedure Act.
